The McLuhan Mashup Challenge is on and amazing prizes are up for grabs. From October 31st to November 12th, CBC invites you to remix, rework and recreate Marshall McLuhan’s message by creating your own McLuhan Mashup.
What’s a Mashup?
A mashup is media content containing any or all of text, graphics, audio, video and animation drawn from pre-existing sources, to create a new derivative work. You are also welcome to use content and elements you’ve created yourself; however, your work must be created from two or more separate pieces of digital content.
What do I need to do?
Start with an idea, gather your media, mash it up in any form you like and upload your most creative reinterpretation of McLuhan’s ideas. Video or Audio submissions must be no more than three minutes long.
More details are on CBC’s site! Good luck to all entrants!
Calling all aspiring actors: STITCH MEDIA (www.stitchmedia.ca) and SHOWCASE (showcase.ca) are hosting an online, Canada-wide talent search for their new comedy web series, Moderation Town. Quirky, crude, and awkwardly self-aware, Moderation Town satirizes the worst of Internet culture by revealing how online attitudes affect average, normal people in the real world.
We want to hear the most creative, hilarious stories people have experienced online. It could be an awkward Facebook encounter, an odd Chatroulette conversation, or the most atrocious message board flamewar. It doesn’t even have to be true. We just want to see what stories people have and search out new and aspiring actors through this open casting call.
- Mark Mullane Co-writer & Director of Moderation Town
…why do I get the feeling the most embarrassing submission will be about a (first-and-last) Chatroulette experience?
