Art4Commuters is curating two video art installations commemorating McLuhan’s teachings for the McLuhan100’s Then/Now/Next: International Conference and DEW Line Festival. These installations will be happening both above and below ground! Below ground, The Messiah with the Right Credentials (1990/2011) by Vera Frenkel plays every 10 minutes on the network of more than 300 Pattison Onestop LCD screens on subway platforms across Toronto. Above ground, NATURE commissioned for Pattison Onestops’ largest downtown billboard located on the roof of 322 Yonge Street at Edward (just north of Dundas Square) features 8-second video and text pieces which include: Fragments of RGB (2010/11)by onformative (Germany), CLOSE YOUR EYES AND IMAGINE…, (2011) by Steve Lambert (U.S.A.), Canada’s Ron Terada’s Voight-Kampff (2008/11) U.K.’s Kelly Richardson’s The Erudition, (2010/11) and EVERYTHING / SOME THINGS / NOTHING (2011) a short personal text piece exploring a personal affirmation, a regret and an acceptance by Kelly Mark (Canada).
