
The Green Innovation Awards offer up to $50,000 in seed money to help Toronto entrepreneurs develop and bring their new and innovative green products and solutions to the Toronto marketplace. The Awards ceremony was held on Friday, April 23, 2010 in Toronto.
CFC Media Lab Alumnus, Robert Kori Golding was awarded $25,000 with his 2010 Green Innovation Award, for his cross-platform game/application for the iPhone and Facebook titled “My Green City”. It encourages Torontonians to engage in pro-environmental behaviour through a green rewards system. By completing simple real-world missions, such as attending green events, reducing waste, cycling to work, planting trees, changing light bulbs, installing water efficient toilets, etc. players will earn carbon credits they can use in the Facebook game to build their own Green Cities.
