Online Editor

We are looking for a talented online communicator to join The Elders’ busy team in London. Applicants should have experience in online and multimedia work, ideally in a social change environment. Website maintenance and photo/video library management are core responsibilities, with plenty of opportunities to develop video storytelling and online engagement activities. Applicants should have an affinity with The Elders’ mission and understanding of the global issues in which The Elders are engaged.

Job Description

The Online Editor is responsible for maintenance of The Elders website, photo and video resources and online engagement. Applicants should have relevant experience in website management, storytelling and online engagement, as well as an affinity with The Elders’ mission and understanding of the global issues in which The Elders are engaged.

This position reports to the Communications Director. A competitive salary and benefits package is offered to the successful candidate. Our office is in west London.
Key responsibilities

* Post media releases, news, photo, video and audio content as required
to Elders site and also ensure links are maintained to Youtube, Flickr etc.
* Draft and edit text for website.
* Produce online content using video/audio/photo archive.
* Manage video/audio/photo archive and requests including copyright and
licensing issues.
* Manage hosting contracts and ensure security updates are performed as
needed.
* Manage domain name registrations and update/arrange purchase of new
domains as required.
* Manage relationships with designers/developers.
* Develop and manage online engagement tools eg sign-ups, email
messaging, Youtube, Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, live streaming, blogs, SMS.

Skills required

* Website content management, ideally with Drupal CMS
* Digital archive management (photo, video, audio)
* Basic photo, video and audio editing skills using Mac Pro
* Writing for the web
* Second language (desirable)
* Competent photographer and videographer (desirable)

* Well-organised and self-motivated
* Good design eye/eye for detail
* Creative
* Good team player, enthusiastic
* Knowledge of conflict and global issues
