Deadline: August 25, 2008 (BY 5:00 PM)
Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) is pleased to announce that program documentation for the new OMDC Screen-based Content Initiative (SCI) is now available online (www.omdc.on.ca <http://www.omdc.on.ca/> – under Programs / OMDC Screen-based Content Initiative). To link directly to this information click here: Guidelines and Application Forms. <http://www.omdc.on.ca/Page5163.aspx>
The OMDC SCI is designed to provide eligible Ontario companies with funding for early-stage development activities required to bring screen-based content properties closer to the production ready stage and create a package appropriate to attract production financing. Successful applicants will receive a non-refundable contribution of up to $100,000 to a maximum of 75% of the budget.
The OMDC SCI is open to Ontario screen-based content creation companies that are actively involved in the production and exploitation of complete content products. This includes film and television producers, interactive digital media content producers and game developers.
The initiative will support any early-stage activity related to a screen-based content project such as a television series, feature film, mobisode, webisode, video game or internet property. Eligible activities must take place prior to commencing production of the market-ready product and could include:
· Concept, story and/or character development
· Script writing
· Development of prototypes or demos
· Creation of design and technical specifications documents
· Market research and testing
· Preparation of a business and marketing plan.
The OMDC SCI is intended to be open-ended and flexible. Eligible companies are encouraged to propose activities that are specific to their particular platform, genre and content focus. Activities outside of those listed above will also be considered provided they take place before production commences.
